Newtown, Ohio, 2005
The tradition continues
In the 1940s the
Newtown Fire Association (NFA) began hosting their Friday Fish Fry
to stay in touch with the community, raise money for the
department's equipment, and provide a great meal during the Lenten
season. This event also allowed people to get to know their
firefighters and rescue workers.
In 2001, the Annual
Fish Fry was hosted to benefit fallen Anderson Township
Firefighter, Bill Ellison, to raise money for his surviving
family.
This year's Fish Fry
will be held at Station 76 in Newtown at 3537 Church Street. The
public is invited to dine in at the Firehouse or carry out and
take it home. Prices for meals start at $4.75 with additional
items a la carte items available. We are also featuring Frisch's
Famous Tartar Sauce as one of our condiments.
A "Split the
Pot" Raffle will be an exciting event at each Dinner service.
Association members will be roaming the dining area and selling
raffles chances at $1.00 per ticket and/or 6 tickets for
$5.00--just stop them and make your purchase for that night. You
do NOT need to be present to win!
This year, we will use
our profits to help replace and upgrade equipment and materials
with the latest technology and safety features to better protect
our firefighters so that they can better serve and protect the
community. |
