Can We Find You In An Emergency?

There are times when the fire department is dispatched for a fire or medical emergency and there is a delay due to difficulty locating the business or residence because the address is not visible from the street.  The address should be visible day or night.  Lighting of the numeric address from the front provides better illumination than lighting from behind. The fire district requests all residential houses be marked with Arabic numerals at least three (3) inches hieght by two (2) inches in width or larger if necessary to be visible from the frontal road, and in a color distinguishable from its background.

Other ways to assist the fire department when there is an emergency:

  1. Provide adequate information concerning your location to the 911 telephone operator.

  2. If possible, have someone outside to “flag” down the responding units.

  3. Turn on porch and front room lights during evening and night emergencies.

  4. Have a clear path to person in need of aid.

    1. We will be bringing in multiple bags of first aid equipment and cot.

  5. Remove all non-essential bystanders from area of patient.

    1. Allow room for up to 4 fire district personnel to perform all necessary tasks.

If you are unsure if your address adequately identifies your house or if you have questions concerning a fire or medical response to your home, please contact Captain Steve Marks at Fire District Headquarters 271-3636 or email smarks@lmfr.org
